1 What is There?

There is an online hangout where you can meet friends, play games and explore a 3D virtual world that's yours to help design and build. Create your own fully customizable avatar - then get in There and join the crowd. Join now! To get a closer look at There, check out our Screenshot Gallery or view one of our Member Created Videos.

2 How do I get my free copy of There?

Just go to the download page to download and install the There software. (Information about the download is provided on that page.)

3 What are my membership options?

There offers two membership plans - a BASIC membership and a PREMIUM membership. View a comparison chart of BASIC and PREMIUM benefits.

4 How much does the Basic Membership cost?

BASIC Membership is absolutely FREE! It includes your fully customizable avatar, your own unique name, a set of new member clothes and a new hoverboard. Once in There, you can explore the world, chat with friends via text and IM, participate in a variety of events and games, shop in the catalog and auctions, listen to streamed Internet radio, join up to 50 Clubs, and begin leveling up in the skill system.

5 What does the Premium Membership cost?

Our PREMIUM Membership costs a one time fee of $9.95. Along with everything from the Basic Membership, Premium Membership includes extra goodies like Voice Chat, the ability to save teleport locations, event hosting and club leader privileges, and full skilling abilities. You'll also be able to earn Therebucks by becoming a Neighborhood owner and collecting rent from tenants, or by creating and selling items like custom avatar clothing, vehicles and home furnishings to other members in the auctions. 6 How do I register for There?

Once you've installed the There software, you'll be prompted to register and create a starter look for your avatar. It's easy! Once you're in There, you can customize your avatar further to create your own unique look.

7 What are the minimum system requirements for running There?

For computers with a CPU speed between 800MHz Pentium III and 2.3GHz, you need the following minimum system requirements:
  • Windows Vista, XP, 2000
  • 256MB RAM
  • 56k Internet connection
  • 500MB free hard disc space
  • Graphics card requirements:
    • NVIDIA: Any GeForce or better, with 32MB of VRAM
    • ATI: Any ATI Radeon 7200 or better, with 32MB of VRAM
    • Other brands: Any graphics card that supports hardware transform and lighting, with 32MB of RAM

For computers with a CPU speed greater than 2.4GHz, you need the following:
  • Windows Vista, XP, 2000
  • 256MB RAM
  • 56k Internet connection
  • 500MB free hard disc space
  • Any DirectX 8 compatible graphics card with 32 MB of VRAM (includes NVIDIA TNT 2, Intel Extreme, Radeon 7000, Radeon IGP, etc.)

8 What are your hours of operation?

9 I had a problem downloading There.

Please check the following:

Did your download quit partway? If your download window closed unexpectedly, you should return to the Download page and click the orange download button again. This will restart your download from the beginning.

10 I had a problem installing There.

Please check the following:

Does your computer meet the minimum system requirements?

Did you restart your computer after making an adjustment or upgrade? If the There installer changed a setting on your computer or upgraded a program for you, you may need to restart your computer. Once you restart your computer, double-click the "Install There" icon on your desktop to continue the setup process.

11 I forgot my password.

You can reset your password here.

If you are unsuccessful, please contact us at help@there.com from the email address you used to sign up for There, and include your avatar name and zip code in the email.

12 I can't log in.

There can be any number of reasons that you are unable to log in. If you are not presented with an error message asking you to enter your billing information or stating that your account has been closed, you may need to contact Technical Support for additional assistance.

Did you forget your password or avatar name? Please contact us at help@there.com from the email address you used to sign up for There, and include your zip code in the body of the email.
