Makena Technologies - Quality Assurance Engineer

Makena Technologies is an exciting new entertainment and communications company focused on online interaction. We are known for our groundbreaking consumer service called "There" (www.there.com), the first online destination where members can meet people, hang out with friends, play games, explore, have fun and even help build their own world - all in a spectacular 3D graphical environment.

Two years after its public launch, There has a highly engaged and loyal member base. "There" offers a rich array of community-oriented activities, many of which have been initiated by the members themselves. There is a society in itself; complete with its own economy in which many members have created their own enterprises. Recent advancements in our unique` technology platform will allow for even more innovative ways for members to interact, create their own spaces, and even earn in-world currency.

Given our strong position, the explosion of online interaction in the marketplace and abundant opportunities for enhancing our 3D world, our company is poised for dramatic growth. New investment and hiring have lead to many improvements in the product, which are leading to significant increases in membership, revenue, and excitement about the product and the company.

Makena Technologies considers quality assurance to be a key part of the product development process. As a quality assurance engineer, you'll be helping us deliver a quality product and making There and Makena Technologies a successful company.

This permanent, full-time, position is located in either Makena's Southern California office, which is in Laguna Beach, or our Northern California office, which is in San Mateo.

Responsibilities:

	Review and comment product and feature specification in preparation for developing test plans

	Develop test plans based on product and feature specifications.

	Develop and validate test cases based on product and feature specifications, or on bugs found either during testing or in-world.

	Estimating test times based on product and feature specifications, refined by actual test plans and test cases.

	Run test cases according to plan.

	Write bug reports for bugs found either during testing, or reported by customer support.

	Contribute to and perform testing reporting showing the progress of product, feature, and release testing and product quality.

	Work with engineering and product management to evaluate product, feature, and release testing, and its impact on the release schedule.

	Use existing automated testing facilities to facilitate product testing.

	Work with engineering to develop new automated testing tools.

Requirements:

	4+ years of Quality Assurance experience in a complex testing environment involving a client-server application. This experience should include activities such as writing test plans, test cases, bug, and QA reporting.

	2+ years of experience testing games, online games, or multiplayer games

	Windows experience a must. Experience with Linux or other Unix platforms is a definite plus.

	Experience with automated testing tools for Windows based 3D Games or online environments would be a plus.

	Experience with scripting languages such as perl or python a plus.
